Real estate developer Devimco has been selected to build the MAA Condominiums and Penthouses – a residential addition to the Montreal Amateur Athletic Association (Club Sportif MAA), Canada's oldest athletic club.

The CAD$150m (US$114m, €100m, £88m) project, which is being spearheaded by Devimco's lead architect William Atkinson and design firm Lemay Michaud, will also see the club gain expanded recreational facilities.

The residential component of the property will comprise 300 condominium units and feature a wealth of fitness and leisure amenities, including a gym, training room, Nordic spa, and a game room equipped with a golf simulator.

Residents will also have access to the revitalised Club Sportif, which will provide 45,000 sq ft (4,181 sq m) of fitness space in the form of basketball and squash courts, yoga and dance studios, multiple spas, a spinning room, and a semi-Olympic indoor swimming pool.

Located on Peel Street in Montreal's Golden Square Mile, the club was originally founded in the 1880s when three local groups – the Montreal Snow Shoe Club, Montreal Lacrosse Club, and Montreal Bicycle Club – opted to join forces.

Sales for the residences are slated to begin later this month.

The project is scheduled for completion in 2021.
