US-based Zooga Yoga, marketed as the country’s first yoga chain exclusively for children, is to open two new sites before the end of 2016.

The new flagship site, Zooga Yoga Culver City, in California, will open on 28 November, offering two yoga studios, a welcoming lobby and free parking.

It will be followed by a location in South Bay, also in California – the chain’s first franchise studio – in early December 2016, which boasts one single, large yoga room.

Founded in 2012 by entrepreneur Antonia King, Zooga Yoga offers a diverse variety of classes for kids and families led by certified specialists. Classes are offered on both a pay-as-you-go and membership basis.

During classes children learn to roar like a lion, fly like a butterfly and swim like a dolphin, designed to help them achieve “strong bodies and calm and balanced minds”.

Parent and me classes include Zooga Sing & Sign for infants and toddlers, Baby Booty Barre, pre-natal and post-natal classes, Zen & Fit parent and baby workout classes and classes for teens and adults.

The classes are supported by a range of Zooga-branded consumer products, such as yoga apparel, CDs, DVDs, eye pillows, tote bags, water bottles, yoga cards and yoga mats.

Zooga also organises school and community based enrichment programmes, designed to encourage children to lead healthier and happier lives through yoga.

Founder, Antonia King said she is actively searching for yoga studio operators, entrepreneurs and investors to further expand the Zooga Yoga brand.

“We are on a mission to bring families across North America a fun mind and body wellness experience unlike anything they have ever experienced,” she said.

“I opened our first location in Culver City in 2012 and within the first six months, it was clear that Zooga Yoga met a need that wasn’t being filled by any other fitness business.

“The addition of Zooga Yoga South Bay and the expansion of our new flagship location increases our brand’s footprint in Los Angeles and marks a historic moment of growth.”
