The historic Hudson Yards residential development on Manhattan's West Side has revealed that it will offer a whopping 40,000 sq ft (3716 sq m) of wellness-oriented amenities.

Cooperatively designed by architecture firms Diller Scofidio + Renfro and the Rockwell Group, the residential tower at 15 Hudson Yards will offer 285 condominium apartments.

The complex, part of the greater Hudson Yards project – long-hailed as the largest private real estate development in US history – will feature an aquatics centre with a 75-foot-long swimming pool; a private spa with treatment rooms; a beauty bar outfitted for hair and makeup services; a fitness centre designed by The Wright Fit; a private studio for yoga and group classes; and a children's imagination centre.

Additional highlights of the property include a golf lounge, private dining suites, and a sound-proof screening and performance room.

Commenting on the project, David Rockwell, founder and president at the Rockwell Group, said the firm's goal was to "create interior spaces that are simultaneously calm and strong".

He explained: "We developed a rich, meticulously-detailed palette of natural materials, making the most out of the building’s orientation and daylight, to underline the extraordinary views of the city’s dynamic, ever-changing skyline."

Expected to open in March, Hudson Yards – a Related Companies venture – is already over 60 percent sold with contracts totalling more than US$800m (€701m, £612.6m).
